Vienna - October 2011

Inside the very grand Kunsthistoriches Museum. Some amazing work including 'The Tower of Babel' by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, above.

The Hundertwasserhaus. Unusual council housing designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser in 1983. Not my favourite building in Vienna...

Vienna - October 2011

The Secession building, built by Joseph Maria Olbrich in 1898 as the home of the Secession movement. The Secession sought to regenerate the art movement in Vienna, promoting 'art for art's sake'. Klimt and Moser were key member. Saw lots of their work in the excellent Leopold gallery in the MuseumQuartier.

Our  hotel in Vienna, the 'Twenty Five Hours Hotel Wien'. Not the concrete bit, just the glass on top and down the side. Lovely suites, excellent staff and great views of the city from our room and also from the bar on the top floor.

The Lloyds of London Building - September 2011

Finally participated in an Open House weekend. The Lloyds building was an obvious choice, given its iconic status and how much I enjoyed the Pompidou when in Paris earlier this year. I also had a bit of a nose around The Sanderson (postmodern, kitsch interior, but an interesting history) and the Zog House.  I'm hoping that one day, post-lottery win, I might have a Zog House all of my very own...
